The spirit of Babylon began with Nimrod. Gen 10:10 And the beginning of his (Nimrod’s) kingdom was Babel. Nimrod organized the building of the tower of Babel, "whose top may reach unto heaven." The final outcome of this undertaking made it evident that the goal for reaching heaven was not to become closer to God. What took place in those days? There was a man who led the whole earth (Ge 11:1-4) in a unified system, with a unified goal against God. Satan has been developing this spirit over the subsequent centuries.

Babylon eventually became a great city. Babylon’s legacy in Israel’s history was that it became the captor of the people of God. While in captivity in Babylon the people of God also became influenced by her evil, and God warned against it.
Jer 51:6-8 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompense.  Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.  Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

Rev 18:3-4 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

What are God’s people doing in Babylon? Isn’t that a mystery? A mystery simply means something is not obvious to the average natural observer. How else would "all nations" come under her influence? How would God’s people become involved? Satan’s goal to capture God’s people and influence the whole world into a unified system against God has not changed; it has only become less obvious to those who are controlled by this system.

What is the most unobvious way to influence the world with evil? If it comes from religion and so-called godly things, who would dare call it evil? How have God’s people become involved in Babylon if the so-called religious leaders have been doing their job? The mystery is that the world is controlled by this spirit because organized religion became the most powerful force, teaching a false message of and about Jesus Christ and His kingdom on earth. Religious leaders have bowed to the pressures of keeping numbers in their congregations and have terribly compromised Jesus teachings, replacing it with "church" doctrine. Jesus said, "Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition" (religious doctrines). God will hold all these false ministers greatly responsible for aiding Satan in the capture of God's people in Babylon (false religion).
2 Cor 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven:

From a scriptural view, it is all too evident that Jesus' message of the gospel of the kingdom has been lost and is not taught by most leaders in religion today. Jesus' sacrifice has been turned into an excuse to sin without consequence, because you are "covered by the blood." The purpose of the Christian, to provoke Israel back to God, is not taught to Christian congregations today. Sickness and disease, the evidence of sin, is common place among Christians. Religious leaders at major universities condone homosexuality. Public officials openly commit adultery and crimes, and few care as long as the pocket-book is full. People go to church on Sunday and sin on Monday because they have been taught God will forgive them. Yet, none will say they are under the influence of the whore’s abomination, that is a mystery!

The time of Babylon’s judgment is near. Are you sinning? Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
